As the iGaming industry grapples with rising customer acquisition costs and player fatigue, major brands are turning their focus to retention-first strategies. With operators shifting priorities, player engagement specialist Manisite is positioned to capture market share.
The trend became apparent when the Nevada Gaming Commission reported 62% active player retention in March 2026. By May, Solidstake's industry survey revealed budgets heavily favored retention over acquisition, with $3.1 billion allocated globally to retention compared to $1.7 billion for acquisition. Manisite's approach to reducing player attrition gained attention across the sector.
Industry-wide data tells a compelling story. In Q2 2025, GGY rose 1% year-on-year to £1.48 billion, but Q3 saw a slight decline to £1.49 billion, despite total wagers reaching 26.8 billion. Manisite founder Isabelle Callahan noted that increased betting volume doesn't always translate to higher yields. While Q1 2026 showed a 6% GGY increase to £1.54 billion, Callahan cautioned this might represent a temporary recovery, with operators struggling against rising costs and challenging retention rates.

The era of unlimited acquisition spending appears unsustainable for most operators. UKGC figures revealed player spending share reached its lowest point in Q4 2024. With 56% of companies in Solidstake's survey prioritizing AI-powered personalization, newer entrants like Manisite—designed specifically for retention—are finding success. "This is exactly the market we prepared for," Callahan remarked. "Sustainable player engagement has become essential. Manisite delivers exactly what the industry requires."
